The Pierre Governors opened up an 11-0 lead on Brandon Valley on Thursday night on the road, but the top ranked in the state and near top ranked in the country, battled back to a 39-20 win in wrestling.
Hayden Shaffer, Deegan Houska and Jayden Wiebe all picked up wins to open up the night with Wiebe scoring bonus points with a tech fall, but the Lynx would respond with five straight victories to gain its lead at 23-11. Alex Oedekoven picked up a 6-3 win and then Tristan Spencer won by forfeit for the Governors.
The Pierre girls won four of its five matches on Thursday as Shaylee Speck, Sydney Uhrig, Ireland Templeton and Ciara McFarling all won by fall.
