Governors Comeback Falls Short

Governors Comeback Falls Short

The Pierre Governor girls found themselves down by 14 in the second half, battled back but fell 43-41 to the Brandon Valley Lynx on Friday night on the road.

The Governors are 3-7 at the halfway point of the season with a more favorable schedule in the second half beginning on Tuesday in Aberdeen. The Govs were down 31-20 at the half as Hilary Behrens and Tessa Bowar were lights from anywhere on the floor as they combined for 27 of the 31 points for Brandon Valley. Both finished with 16 on the night but were held to just one point combined. The Lynx had just four points in total in the fourth quarter. Ayvrie Kaiser had eight of her game high 17 in the fourth quarter including hitting two threes. The Govs never led but Kaiser hit a three at the buzzer to pull the Govs within two but time ran out on the wild comeback.

Pierre will face the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles on Tuesday to begin the second half of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 in Aberdeen.
