Zabel Relishes in FCS Championship after Grueling 2021

Football runs deep in the veins of Grey Zabel, Pierre native and lineman stand out for the Governors graduating in 2020. But in 2021, football was played like it never had been before.

The 2020 FCS season was played entirely in the spring of 2021, and while Zabel was injured in the South Dakota State game in the spring season, the rehab had to be quick to get back on the field by the next season, just a couple of months away in September as the Covid season all fell in the same calendar year. Zabel returned for the start of the 2021 fall year and was part of a massive offensive line for the North Dakota State Bison who will virtually bring everybody back for 2022 and will look to defend its national championship. Zabel says the two seasons in one year were very taxing on the body…

As much as Zabel enjoyed every bit of winning state championships with the Governors, the FCS national championship might be just a bit sweeter…

As taxing as 2021 was for Zabel and the Bison, they quickly will get into Winter camps…

Zabel, with the Covid year, will be going into his technical junior campaign, but has the opportunity to be a super senior when it’s all said and done with the extra year from Covid.
