PIERRE — Meeting in special session early Tuesday afternoon, the Pierre School Board approved a bid by Sharpe Enterprises of Fort Pierre to build an expansion on Buchanan Elementary School. Business Manager Darla Mayer says the Sharpe bid is for eight-point-four million dollars….
The cost of the project when first proposed last summer was around six-point-five million dollars. The District is legally required to accept the lowest bid, provided that low bid meets bidding criteria. Mayer says federal funds were recently approved for the project…

Construction is expected to begin at the end of the current school year and last approximately 18 months. Glodt says that timeline may cause for some congestion during the next school year at Buchanan, but things the largest impact will be on school office space.
