Caden Hinker had 35 points Thursday night against the Pierre Governors to pick up a 69-54 win over Pierre.
Matthew Hanson had a career night for the Governors, and after scoring the first eight points for Pierre, finished with a team high 17 on the evening. Lincoln Kienholz finished 15 after being held off the scoreboard in the first quarter. Steele Morgan and Dylan Soulek each had double digit games with 12 and 11 respectively. Mitchell led the entire way but the Governors were able to cut the Kernel lead to a single possession a couple of times in the second quarter but the final two minutes of the half proved to be crucial. Mitchell led 23-21 but pounced on the Govs to lead 39-25 at the break.
The Governors skid hits four games and they are now 4-4 on the season. Pierre will be off until next Thursday when they take on the Douglas Patriots at home. Coverage will begin at 6:40 with tipoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
