Pierre Boys Can’t Hold on to Lead, Fall in Winner

The Pierre Governors led the entire game until the final 90 seconds before the Winner Warriors escaped and remained unbeaten with a win over the Govs 46-43 Tuesday night in Winner.

The Governors jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and while the lead shrunk to a single possession in the first half, The Govs jumped out to an 11 point lead early in the third quarter before having its largest lead at 13 before the Warriors mounted its comeback. Winner held the Governors to just seven fourth quarter points and hit six of 10 free throws down the stretch to claim its first lead with just 1:23 remaining. Lincoln Kienholz attempted three pointer at the buzzer didn’t fall and would not have counted either as he couldn’t get the shot away in time.

Kienholz did finish with the game high 13 points on the night as Jackson Edman and Christian Busch also had double digits with 10 each for the Governors. Blake Volmer had 11 for Winner while Aiden Barfuss also had 11, but had nine in the fourth quarter to spark and lead the comeback.
