Slow Start, Cold Shooting Takes Sully Buttes Girls Down at Redfield

The Sully Buttes Charger girls’ slow start Saturday night at Redfield, along with cold shooting, led them to a 49-39 loss to undefeated Florence-Henry at the Redfield Holiday Classic.

The Chargers trailed 18-7 after the first quarter, and slowly came back, but were always at arm’s length against the Class A Falcons.  Sully Buttes trailed 29-16 at the half, and just couldn’t make up enough ground in the contest.  Sully Buttes also had a cold shooting night, missing opportunities in close in their effort to make up ground.

Leading the way for Florence-Henry was 5’11” junior Caylin Kelly, who scored 21 points, while Trinity Watson added 13 points.  For Sully Buttes, Stevie Wittler came alive in the second half, and led the Chargers with 16 points, and Lydia Hill found her rhythm in the second half as well, and finished with 13 points.  It was the third game in five days for the 6-3 Chargers. Who will be off until Thursday, as they face the Miller Rustlers in a girls-boys doubleheader.    The 7-0 Falcons will now play Friday at Warner.
