Capitals Split Weekend with Win over Mitchell and Loss to Brookings

The Oahe Capitals Boys Varsity team picked up two points over the weekend with a 4-1 loss to Brookings on Saturday but a 7-0 shutout win over Mitchell.

Saturday night the Caps went down on the penalty kill eight times and even killing off six, the Rangers still were able to pick a season sweep behind two Breck Hirrschoff goals. Carter Sanderson scored the lone goal for the Caps part of five on the weekend.

Sunday the Capitals went 3-4 on the power play as Sanderson exploded for four goals in the win, securing 20 on the season. Ashton Griese had three assists while Jarron Beck finished with two. Dre Berndt, Keenan Howard and Jon Lyons all scored for the Caps while Carter Schulz picked up his second shutout of the season with 17 saves.

The Capitals, now at 8-3, will have the weekend off before returning back to the Expo Center on the 22nd facing the Rushmore Thunder.
