Brookings Remains Undefeated in Win over Capitals

The Brookings remained undefeated on Sunday in a 5-2 win over the Oahe Capitals for just the second loss of the season for the Capitals.

Brookings got on the board first eight minutes into the contest as Talon Richter stuffed in a shot on a pass from Logan Bortnem. However, the Caps would outshoot the Rangers in the first period 8-7. But the Rangers would add another two goals to its lead as Breck Hirrschoff scored twice from Ashton Witte to take a 3-0 lead midway through the second. Keenan Howard pulled the caps within two with a back hander that squeaked through Kade Brecher, but Brookings would tally its second power play goal as Bortnem made it a 4-1 lead after two periods. In the second minute of the third period, Jon Lyons would win a face off and Grayson Hunsley would back hand in the second goal of the game as the Caps became the first team to score two goals in a game against Brookings this season. Witte, though, would seal the win on a penalty shot late in the third as the Rangers are now 7-0 while the Caps fall to 7-2.Carter Schulz made 27 saves on 32 chances while Brecher made 19 saves on 21 shots.
