Capitals Use In-Team Tournament over Christmas Break

From last season, the Oahe Capitals boys varsity and junior varsity teams played a tournament splitting up their team into three teams for a tournament. It’s a fun and competitive opportunity for the team to break up the long time between games. Capitals alumni return to play in the tournament as well.

Head Coach of the Oahe Capitals Steve Steele says it’s a lot of fun…

The tournament was broken up into four days this year with games being played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and their championship on Thursday. Steele says he likes to see the alumni come back and play with the current group of Caps players…

The captains, Ashton Griese, Dre Berndt and Jaden Flor choose their team and Steele likes to see those captains take on a coaching role…

And Steele says there’s no denying the coaches love this tournament…

The Oahe Capitals will have its next game on Saturday January 1, in Sioux Falls. You can listen to the game on Capital City Rock and watch on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
