The Oahe Lady Capitals played the Sioux Falls Flyers to a 4-2 score after two periods, but a five goal third led the Flyers to a convincing 9-2 victory.
After trailing 2-0 in the first period, the Caps received two late period goals by Brylee Kafka and a short handed goal from Ashton Lee, both unassisted. But then the depth of the Flyers took over, scoring a late first period goal to hold the lead at the end of the first. Then the Flyers scored five times in the third as the Caps were unable to keep up. Alissa Lingen and Lilly Moon each had a hat trick for the Flyers. Abigail Stewart-Fromm made 36 saves in net for the Caps. Oahe had just 15 shots in the game.
The Lady Caps are now 1-1-0-1 and will take on Yankton next Saturday and Sunday. Coverage will begin at 4:40 on Saturday with puck drop at 5:00 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports. It will be part of a doubleheader with the boys game to follow. Jon Winkler will have the call.
