The Pierre Governor Boys basketball team went down 2-0 Friday night to the Rapid City Stevens Raiders, but never trailed after routing the Raiders to a 68-38 win.
Pierre scored the next and final 18 points in the first quarter leading 18-2 after one and 34-15 lead at the break. Eight different players scored for the Governors who shot 48% from the field led by Lincoln Kienholz dropping in 17. Jackson Edman added 15 and senior Matt Hanson contributed 13 in the win. Jett Zabel had 10 rebounds, eight on the defensive glass as Pierre outplayed Stevens in every facet of the game. Nate Kindred had a team high nine points for the Raiders. Head Coach Brianna Kusler picked up a win in her debut as the Governors leader.
