PIERRE — A Fort Pierre man has died from injuries sustained in a crash in Hughes County after Thanksgiving. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 25 year-old Wayde Wieczorek died Friday December 3rd, one week after the crash that happened on Friday, November 26th. Wieczorek was traveling south on Highway 1804 some 18 miles north of Pierre when the 2019 Mazda C-X-Five he was driving went into the west ditch, then crossed the highway and entered the east ditch were the vehicle rolled over. Wieczorek was not using a seat belt at the time and was thrown from the vehicle. He was transported to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre then airlifted to a Sioux Falls Hospital. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
