The Oahe Lady Capitals couldn’t finish out a two goal comeback and fell just short the Watertown Lakers on the road in a 3-2 loss Saturday evening.
The Lakers scored the opening goal early in the second period and held on to the 1-0 lead until the final minute. The Capitals were swarming around and finally found the back of the net as Brylee Kafka skated the from her own blue line in a break away and score the tying goal with just under 40 seconds left in the period. Jaclyn Lloyd scored both third period goals for the Lakers to take a 3-1 lead. Ashton Lee pulled the Caps within one a minute later, but as the Caps began to buzz in the offensive zone again, they ran out of time just before they couldn’t find the tying goal.
Abigail Stewart-Fromm made 22 saves on 25 chances as the Caps are now 2-1-0-1. Oahe will face Sioux Falls on the road next Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15.
