Oahe Capitals Open Season in Mitchell

The Oahe Capitals will take the ice on Friday for its lone game of the weekend but the first of the 2021-2022 regular season as they travel to Mitchell to face the Marlins.

The Capitals are coming off of their best finish in a state tournament since 2016 even though they didn’t finish the 2020 tournament after winning its first game. The Capitals return the tandem of goalies with Carter Schulz and Kieran Duffy now into its senior year. Junior Ashton Griese, this year’s captain returns with the most points from the 2021 team. He finished his sophomore campaign with 14 goals and 12 assists. Senior Keenan Howard returns as the only other Capital with double digit goals.

The Mitchell Marlins have already played two regular season games to this point but were blown out by scores of 9-0 and 13-3 to the Rushmore Thunder. Head Coach of the Oahe Capitals Steve Steele says Mitchell does have a small advantage having played two regular season games prior to Friday’s contest…

Mitchell had 20 power plays in the two games against the Thunder last weekend but went 0-10 in each of the two games and while they were outscored 22-3, Steele says it’s no guarantee…

Steele says he wants to see the Capitals play fast…
