Pierre Water System Flushing Passes Halfway Mark

PIERRE — City of Pierre Water Department crews are over half way through the process of flushing the city’s water system. In what has been a regular update for the last four week, Project Manager Gidget Palmer presented the latest status report to the Pierre City Commission Tuesday night…

Mild weather has helped keep the process moving, but the operation is moving into the western and northwestern portions of Pierre which could slow things down…

Palmer says the flushing is more than just open some fire hydrants…

If flushing is not completed by Christmas it will resume in the spring. The process will be repeated as a way to get Pierre’s new drinking water into the distribution system once the new drinking water treatment plant is put into service next fall.
