Oahe Capitals Goalie Experience Paves Way to Open Season

In South Dakota High School Hockey it’s rare to have two goalies play at the highest level in varsity hockey, where they could play for any other team and be the number one guy. It’s even more of a rare feat to have those same goalies return. That’s what the Oahe Capitals have as they open up the 2021-2022 season.

Carter Schulz and Kieran Duffy each played 10 regular season games last year for the Caps en route to being the number two overall seed behind just the Brookings Rangers. The two return this year along with Collin Lee who will also have a good shot to play some varsity minutes making the Capitals a dangerous team with three very capable goalies. While you enjoy having some of the best goalies in the state, the Capitals will have to look to fill the roles of the top line that graduated after last season. Raef Briggs, Elliot Leif and Andy Gordon were the best line in the state in 2021 and one of the best lines the Capitals have ever seen in its history.
