Governors Fall to Huron in Consolation Semifinal

The Pierre Governors fell to the Huron Tigers on Friday afternoon in the consolation semifinal match in four sets, 25-18, 14-25, 25-23 and 25-21. The Governors move to the seventh place match on Saturday.

For the second straight day, the Huron Tigers opened up on fire as they won the first set against Washington and Pierre. But just like on day one, the Tigers slipped in the second set as its opponent cruised to a victory. Pierre had little problem in the second set as Ayvrie Kaiser had five kills to lead the Govs in an 11 point win. Yet, the Governors couldn’t win the third set as the Tigers found a way to pick up a 25-23 win and kept an arm’s length of separation in the fourth set for the victory. Pierre’s Kaiser finished with a match high 16 kills while Reese Terwilliger had 11 and MaKenna Schlekeway had seven. Brynn Gose and Emily Dale had the attack for the Tigers with 11 kills each in the win.

Pierre will play in the seventh place match at 10:00 AM Central Time on Saturday. Coverage will start at 9:40 on KCCR and kccrradio.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
