Pierre Man Arrested Wednesday Night For Aggravated Assault

PIERRE — A Pierre man is arrested Wednesday night on an aggravated assault charge. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says an officer on patrol in the 800 block of East Sioux Avenue was flagged down for help just before midnight. The officer spoke with an individual who says the suspect; 20 year-old Taylor Cook, assaulted them with a glass liquor bottle and punched the victim multiple times as well. Authorities were able to take Cook into custody at the scene. Walz did not have information regarding the extent of the victim’s injuries. Cook was taken to the Hughes County Jail on a single count of Aggravated Assault. Aggravated Assault in South Dakota is a Class Two felony that carries a maximum prison term of 25 years in prison and/or a 50-thousand dollar fine.
