Miller Faces Colman-Egan in Class B SoDak 16 Match

The Miller Rustlers are no strangers to picking up upset wins and their no strangers to winning SoDak 16 matches. Tonight, the Rustlers head to Madison High School as the 12 seed to face fifth seeded Colman-Egan.

The Rustlers were on the winning side, on the road on Thursday, defeating the Potter County Battlers to advance to the SoDak 16 as the three seed in Region 2B and the 12 seed overall. Miller is a 21 win team now with four straight wins. The Rustlers swept Herreid/Selby Area and won in four sets over Potter County to reach the SoDak 16.

The Colman-Egan Hawks come into tonight on high, defeating Bridgewater-Emery in five sets last Thursday to knock off the Huskies for its only loss of the season. The Hawks came back from a 2-0 deficit to advance to the SoDak 16 beating one of the top teams in the state. They’re led by Mackenzie Hemmer in kills averaging over 11 kills per match for a total of 358. The senior is also the team leader in blocks and digs. The Hawks defeated Oldham-Ramona/Rutland in its first tournament match before the upset win over Bridgewater-Emery.

The Rustlers will need a boost tonight to knock off Colman-Egan and advance to the state tournament. First serve from Madison High School is set for 7:00.
