PIERRE — A Pierre resident was arrested Saturday around 3:45 pm for aggravated assault. Officers responded to a possible assault in progress in the 1900 block of Kennedy Drive. Upon arrival, officers found the victim and 32 year-old Ableza Oakie at a residence. Authorities learned during the investigation Oakie had assaulted the victim by striking them with a large object that was inside the home; biting the victim and restricting the victim’s airway. Oakie also prevented the victim from leaving the residence. Pierre police did not disclosure what kind of object was used in the assault. Oakie was found at the scene and taken to the Hughes County Jail for Aggravated Assault and False Imprisonment.
