Potter County Looks for Revenge in State Semifinal in Faulkton

For the second straight week the Potter County Battlers will face a familiar foe and a team they played already this season. Tonight, the Battlers will travel to Faulkton to take on the Faulkton Area Trojans.

The Battlers beat the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots 48-8 last Thursday scoring all 48 points unanswered for the win and Grant Luikens, senior quarterback, threw for 233 yards, two touchdowns and ran for 46 yards and a score. The Battler defense clamped down on the Patriots to just three first downs the entire night. It comes after just a six point earlier in the season against the Patriots.

Potter County will be looking to do the same against the Trojans tonight after Faulkton Area beat the Battlers 36-18 in the first game of the season. Since then, the Trojans went 7-2 with wins over Colome and Harding County to reach the semifinals. Head Coach of the Potter County Battlers, Vern Smith, is looking back to the win over Hitchcock-Tulare last week for success tonight…

Smith is looking for the success of his team…

Smith says he doesn’t want his team to do too much tonight, just do their job…

The Battlers and Trojans are scheduled for kickoff at 7:00 in Faulkton. The winner will play in the 9B state championship game on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Dakotadome in Vermillion.
