Pierre Hosts Aberdeen Central in State Semifinal

Week Eight was a tale of two games between the Pierre Governors and Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles, but tonight, the two teams meet at Hollister Field for the state semifinals.

The Governors jumped out to a 32-0 lead midway through the second quarter and looked like it was going to be an old fashion blow out win for Pierre. However, the Golden Eagles mounted a comeback to pull within 10 in the second half, but ultimately failed in Pierre’s 52-35 win. Aberdeen Central, though, has already avenged one loss, by beating Brookings last week in a 42-34 win in a major upset over the Bobcats.

The Governors will look for the high powered offense to stick for another game against Aberdeen and the offense they saw last Thursday in the 38-9 win over Watertown. Lincoln Kienholz became the all-time leader in pass yards for a career and season in last week’s win. Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Steve Steele says it’s good to be at home…

Steele says Aberdeen Central was very physical last week against Brookings and expects the same tonight…

Steele says Pierre needs to get an early lead tonight…

The Governors and Golden Eagles are set for kickoff at 7:00 from Hollister field. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:30 on KCCR, kccrradio.com and on YouTube to watch at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Greg Dean on the call.
