Tonight will close out the regular season for the Pierre Governor volleyball team as they host Sioux Falls Jefferson on senior night. Pierre is looking for a 16 win season.
The Governors have not had to travel since beating Yankton on October 14. It’s been good for the Governors to be at home, but the Jefferson Cavaliers are coming into town really not having traveled much this season during the week. Outside of weekend tournaments, the Cavaliers have only had to travel out of town to Mitchell and Brookings during the week.
Jefferson, though, is coming in having a much better second half of the season after starting out the season at 4-12. They’ve since up its mark to 11-15 and have climbed to 11th in the AA standings. On paper, the matchup looks tougher than it did just a couple of weeks ago. Pierre has won two straight and six of its last seven as they try and seal the third seed heading into the SoDak 16 nine days from now.
