Class AA
The Pierre Governor boys had two runners inside the top 15 in state Cross Country meet on Saturday in Sioux Falls as Hayden Shaffer finished in fifth place with a time of 16:23 concluding his cross country career. Jared Lutmer finished behind him in 14th place at 16:42 as just a sophomore for Pierre. Mason Dell was also inside the top 25 at 23rd with a time of 17:06. Blake Judson was 36th, Brady Gere 52nd, Riley Pfeifer 72nd and Haeden Wheelhouse was 89th. The Governor boys team finished in fourth place with a total of 130 points. Rapid City Stevens was the boys winner with a score of 77.
LizBeth Crosby was 33rd for the Pierre Governors finishing the highest for Pierre. Gwen Richter was 56th, Lennix Dupris 71st, Autumn Iverson 74th, Jazzlyn Rombough 88th, Avery Lisburg was 92nd and Mason Berg was 115th. The Governor girls as a team placed 13th while O’Gorman took home first place with a score of 52.
Class A
The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes placed 13th as a team at the state cross country meet. Gracie Olson was the best Buff finisher in 47th place with a time of 21:00.06. Kaysen Magee was 72nd, Sarah Fosheim was 102nd, Rachel Nemec was 111th and Bailey Seidschlaw was 117th. The team scored a 225 was good for 13th place.
Class B
Griffin Peterson placed inside the top 25 in the Class B boys run to close out his running career at Sully Buttes. Peterson placed 23rd with a time of 18:07. Peterson was the only runner for the Chargers that qualified for the state meet. Lane Krautschun was first in Class B for Bison. The Miller boys won the team state championship with a score of 25, 23 points better than Northwestern.
