Chargers Football Season Comes to a Close with Loss on the Road

The Sully Buttes Chargers fumbled on their first possession, and it basically went downhill from there, as the Alcester Hudson Cubs used a power rushing attack, and stifling defense to shut out the younger Chargers 34-0 Thursday night in Alcester.

A potent inside-outside rushing attack by the Cubs wore the Chargers down with Jovey Christianson doing the outside work, and amassing 120 yards, while fullback Caden Winquist punished smaller Sully Buttes on the inside, and totaled  96 yards on the ground.

The turnover battle was a push, but a stout Alcester Hudson defense held the Chargers to a total of 69 yards on the ground and through the air, while the hometown Cubs tallied 242 yards of offense on the night, and advanced on to the second round of the Class 9B playoffs.

Sully Buttes ended its’ season with a 4-5 mark, while Alcester Hudson pushed its mark to 5-3.
