Huron Upsets Governors at Home with Four Set Victory

A team desperate for a win in the Huron Tigers came into town on Tuesday and upset the No. 3 Pierre Governors with a four set victory, 25-23, 19-25, 25-14 and 25-19.

The Tigers improved to .500 with the win which will help the Governors but a tough loss to a .500 team could hurt at the end of the season. The Governors dropped to 13-4 and the first loss against a team outside of the top five in the AA standings.

The Tigers used a 12 point swing in the fourth set to overcome a six point deficit early on to close out the match. Bryn Gose and Emily Dale led the way for the Tigers with 13 and 12 kills respectively. Pierre’s Ayvrie Kaiser had the game high 16 kills in the loss while Remi Price and Lily Sanchez both had five kills. Huron’s service errors were detrimental in the first matchup but finished the second match with nine aces to Pierre’s one.

The Governors have three games left in the year, all at home. Pierre hosts Douglas on Friday with first serve at 7:00, coverage will begin at 6:40 on KCCR, kccrradio.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
