City Officials Release More Details On Pierre Water System Flushing

PIERRE — More details have been released from city officials in Pierre about the flushing of water lines in preparation for new, treated Missouri River water from Pierre’s new drinking water treatment plant. Project Manager Gidget Palmer says the city will flush the system with unidirectional flushing…

It should take two to three weeks to flush Pierre’s system. Palmer says residents should take a few things into mind as the flushing affects their neighborhoods…

Temporary water discoloration is possible during flushing along with changes to water pressure to your home or business. The flushing may also cause fire suppression systems to alarm. A map of the color-coded flushing zones will be posted to the city of Pierre website. Residents can be alerted to the zone flushing by signing up for AlertSense and flyers will be mailed to homes and businesses as well.
