PHILIP — Most of the names of those involved in a fatal vehicle crash in Haakon County last week have been released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 9:30 am on Sunday October 10th 20 miles northeast of Philip on 212th Avenue, two miles north of Grindstone Road. A Ford pick was traveling north on 212th when it attempted to turn into the east ditch. The Ford collided with a southbound Dodge pickup. The driver of the Ford, 50 year-old Sheldon Mead of Belle Fourche was killed in the crash. His passengers, 59 year-old William Larive and a 12 year-old male, both from Box Elder, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to a hospital in Philip. The occupants of the Dodge; 22 year-old Allan McDonnell and 17 year-old Rylan McDonnell, both from Quinn, were not injured. Seat belts were not used by anyone involved in the crash.
