Water Restrictions To Go In Place Tuesday For Users Of Mni Wiconi Core Line

FORT PIERRE — Water restrictions will be put in place again for Fort Pierre residents and residents along the Mni Wiconi Core Water pipeline. The Bureau of Reclamation and Mni Wiconi Rural Water System will begin repairs on the Core Line from Tuesday October 19th to Thursday October 21st. Joe Hall, the Dakotas Area Office Manager is asking all users of the system to begin mandatory water restrictions until further notice. The restrictions, like with previous restrictions include all non-essential water use for things like lawn watering, washing cars and filling pools and tanks. The restrictions will impact the entire line and includes West River/Lyman Jones Rural Water, Lower Brule Rural Water, Rosebud Rural Water and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Water Maintenance and Conservation. Questions should be director to your local water service provider. The Mni Wiconi Core Line runs through all or part of Stanley, Haakon, Lyman, Jones, Jackson and Mellette Counties.
