In the final invite of the season the Pierre Governor Cross Country team took to Huron as the Hayden Shaffer and the boys team finished in third while the girls were in fifth.
For the girls, LizBeth Crosby, fresh off being named the Pierre Athlete of the Week followed up her performance with another top ten finish in Huron, finishing in ninth place with a time of 21:19. Autumn Iverson was inside the top 15 with a 12th place finish. Jazzlyn Rombough was 21st, Lennix Dupris 23rd, Avery Lisburg 29th and Mason Berg 36th. Thea Chance was first overall for Yankton with a time of 20:26.
Shaffer had his second straight top three finish as he finished at an even 17:00, just five second behind Aberdeen Central’s Josh Martin. Jared Lutmer was in the top five with a fifth place finish. Blake Judson was 15th, Mason Dell 17th, Riley Pfeifer 20th, Brady Gere 26th, Haeden Wheelhouse 27th, and Mason Ward-Zeller 34th.
The Governors will compete in the state meet on Saturday Oct. 23.
