The Pierre Governors won a thrilling match over No. 3 Harrisburg in five sets on Tuesday coming back from a seven point deficit in the fifth set to pick up their 12th win of the season.
The Governors won 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20 and 16-14. Pierre came out flat in the first set as Harrisburg controlled throughout in the first set. However, Pierre responded to the first and third set losses with big wins to force a fifth and deciding set. Pierre trailed 9-2 in the fifth set but found a way back to win it 16-14 over Harrisburg snapping their eight match win streak. The Governors were led in kills by Reese Terwilliger with 12. Lily Sanchez had 10 kills and Remi Price added nine. Pierre had just four aces on the night but none bigger than Terwilliger’s in the fifth set.
For Harrisburg, now 16-5, had a 17 kill night from Morissen Samuels and 16 kills from Abby Meister. Harrisburg had 11 aces overall on the night but too many service errors and the Govs took advantage.
