Man Killed In Haakon County Crash

PHILIP — A 50 year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Haakon County Sunday. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two passengers; ages 59 and 12 received serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash that happened on 212th Avenue, two miles north of Grindstone Road or 20 miles northeast of Philip. The crash happened around 9:30 AM. A Ford F-150 pick-up was moving north on 212th Avenue when the driver turned toward the east ditch. The Ford crashed into a southbound Dodge Ram pick-up. The 50 year-old male driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. The 59 and 12 year-old male passengers were taken to a hospital in Philip. Two male occupants of the Dodge, ages 22 and 17 were not injured. None of the five people involved were wearing seat belts. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family. The Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation of the crash.
