Pierre Football Wins Shootout with Watertown

The Pierre Governors and Watertown Arrows combined for 94 points and nearly 1000 yards offensively but the Governors outgained and outscored the Arrows with a 52-42 win in Pierre.

The Governors and Arrows traded leads throughout the first half with the Governors holding a 31-28 lead at the break. Pierre opened up the second half with a 94 yard kickoff return for Jayden Wiebe which set up one of Trey Lewis’s touchdown runs to give the Governors their biggest lead at 38-28. Pierre had a couple of big defensive stops in the fourth quarter to close out the 10 point win,

For Pierre, Trey Lewis had a 121 yards rushing on 17 attempts and two touchdowns in place of the injured back, Brock Moser. Lincoln Kienholz went 9-19 with 257 yards and three touchdowns, two to Matt Hanson and another to Jack Merkwan. The Governors had 539 yards of offense in the win.

Drew Norberg went 25-41 on the night for 402 yards, five touchdowns and an interception. Cole Holden had nine catches for 251 and four touchdowns on the night. Watertown finished with 438 yards of offense for the now 3-4 Arrows.
