Pierre Volleyball Sweeps Huron for First Win against Huron in 13 Years

It was 2008 the last time the Pierre Governor volleyball team had beaten the Huron Tigers, that is, until Thursday night when the Governors swept the Tigers, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-23.

The Governors didn’t lead until 18-17 but took eight of the last 11 points to secure a first set win. Huron committed 12 service errors in the first two set wins for the Governors. The Tigers were able to clean up the serves but the Governors continued to make them pay with hitting errors in the third set. Ayvrie Kaiser led the way for the Governors with 10 kills while Lily Sanchez, out of her setter position added another seven kills. Remi Price picked up four, for the now 11-3 Pierre Governors. Brynn Gose had 10 kills for Huron as they fall to 8-7.

The Governors will now face the Harrisburg Tigers on Tuesday in what will be another top five matchup for Pierre. Coverage will begin at 6:40 with first serve scheduled for 7:00 on KCCR, kccrradio.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
