Work On John Waldron Memorial Bridge Six Months Behind Schedule

FORT PIERRE — Construction on the new John Waldron Memorial Bridge between Pierre and Fort Pierre is a half year behind schedule. Denae Johnson with Project Solutions, the public relations firm working on the project says challenges with the site and the soil are some of the reasons behind the six-month delay…

Two drilled columns and shafts on the bridge have been completed and more pieces are ready for when new equipment is in place…

Johnson says the delays have pushed back timelines on the project…

Johnson says the new drilling rig is specifically designed to cut into hard rock and progress should be more noticeable once it’s put into action. Another barge is being assembled to allow for three floating cranes in the river.
