Governor Soccer Shutout in First Round

Governor Soccer Shutout in First Round

Both the Pierre Governor Soccer teams lost in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday as both teams seasons would end with the same final score of 1-0.

The Pierre Governor girls were unable to get anything moving offensively as the Roosevelt’s defense stymied Pierre in a 1-0 shutout. The Governors had just three shots in the entire match while Roosevelt peppered 16 with eight on target. Jenna Gehring, in her last game for the Governors, made seven saves. Isabel Peterson scored the only goal with 31.40 left in the second half.

The Pierre boys just couldn’t quite get the offense rolling either as Sioux Falls Lincoln won at home on Tuesday to keep its season alive. The Governors had its best offensive season in history with the duo of Cole Peterson and Rylan Derry both breaking the career record of goals scored. Derry will return for his senior season next year.
