Pierre Golf Sits Middle of the Road in Day One of State Tournament

The Pierre Governor golf team is in eighth place in the AA Standings at the 2021 State Golf Tournament in Huron. The Governors shot a 330, but are only eight shots behind fifth place Mitchell heading into the second day.

The Governors had the best performance from Luke Olson who is tied for 14th place as he was six over par, 78 on day one. Nick Bothun shot an 81 while Saywer Sonnenschein was at 83 and Lincoln Houska at 88. Jon Lyons, who didn’t factor into the scoring on day one shot a 93. Jack Bartlett withdrew due to sickness after shooting a 44 through nine holes, fourth best on the team at that point. Jake Olson of Watertown is the clubhouse leader after the first day with a two under par and has a four shot lead.

But, Swiden says they’re 20 to 30 strokes better than last year…

Swiden says he wants to see the guys play with confidence on the final day…
