Pierre Football Visits Yankton to Renew Rivalry

For the third time in three years the Pierre Governor football team will be in Yankton as the Bucks and Govs will revisit its recent rivalry between the two schools.

The Governors shellacked the Bucks 63-0 in the 2019 season leading by that same score at halftime of the game. In 2020, the Governors lost for the first time in 19 games spanning three different seasons to the Bucks. Pierre would win the state semifinal in Yankton en route to a fourth straight state championship. This year, the Govs come in at 3-1 on the season while the Bucks are 2-2 after a close loss to Sioux Falls Jefferson.

Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Steve Steele says the temp of Yankton’s offense can be dangerous…

The ground game has gotten more involved the last couple of weeks and Steele says they have to have balance…

Steele says they have to be disciplined and communicate tonight…
