MURDO — The South Dakota Highway Patrol says one person has died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 in Jones County. The crash happened September 16th around 3:20 pm two miles west of Murdo. The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2017 Subaru was traveling west when it left the roadway, crossed the median and struck a 2018 Hyundai in a head-on collision. The 26 year-old female driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. A 48 year-old female passenger was airlifted to a Rapid City hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 57 year-old female and 64 year-old male in the Subaru suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to Avera St. Mary’s hospital in Pierre. Seatbelts were in use by all involved in the crash. Charges are pending against the 57 year-old female driver of the Subaru.
