Pierre Football Hosts Sturgis on Saturday

It’s a rare Saturday evening game for the Pierre Governors this week as they host the Sturgis Scoopers looking for back to back wins after opening the season with a loss.

The Governors forced five turnovers last Friday against the Mitchell Kernels en route to a 15 point victory. Four of the turnovers were fumbles. This week, Pierre may be looking for the same amount of forced turnovers, but this time Pierre may be looking for four interceptions. The Scoopers, behind the Governors, may have the highest passing play calls in 11AA this year. That will lend for the defensive backs to have opportunities to make some plays. Pierre will look to continue to throw the ball with success as they did against both Harrisburg and Mitchell.

Christian Busch returns this week to the offensive line and with the addition of Brady Getz returning last week, Steve Steele, head coach of the Governors, says it’s huge for Pierre…

Steele says he likes the progression from week one to week two and wants it to continue…

And Steele says they need to get pressure on the Sturgis quarterback defensively…

The Governors and Scoopers have kickoff scheduled for 7:00 Saturday night. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:30 on KCCR, kccrradio.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Greg Dean on the call.
