Golf Wins Tiebreaker, Finishes Fifth in Yankton

The Pierre Governor golf team would win a scorecard playoff on Friday in Yankton to take fifth place as a team with 338, while O’Gorman would leave with the team win at 305.

The scorecard tie came down to the team who had the best fifth place finisher. Jack Barlett shot an 89 which was one stroke better than Yankton’s Tate Beste. So while Bartlett’s score did not factor into the team score, it did help Pierre jump over Yankton and Tea Area for a standalone fifth place finish. Nick Bothun and Sawyer Sonnenschein had the best finish on the team with both shooting an 83, tied for 21st. Both were just nine shots off the leader, Jacob Stewart at 74. Lincoln Houska would shoot an 85 and Luke Olson an 87 to close out the Governor team score.

Pierre will be in Brookings on Monday with the event teeing off at 9:00 AM
