Pierre To Request Bids To Repair River Road Storm Sewer

PIERRE — The Pierre City Commission has approved a request to bid for a project to repair a major storm water drain on the west side of the city. Pierre City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga, sitting in for Mayor Steve Harding says repairing the River Road Storm Drainage has been on Pierre’s to-do list for over a decade…

Staff Engineer Nick Waters says River Road will not need to be dug up to fix the pipe…

The process to repair the drain pipe is similar to pipe lining procedures used on water and sewer pipes in other parts of the city, just with different materials…

The River Road Storm Sewer begins on the northeast corner of the intersection of River Road, Edgewater Drive, West Capitol Avenue and Country Drive. It takes storm water runoff from north and northwest Pierre and runs it through Whisky Gulch and into the Missouri River.  Waters hopes to have the project done, weather and bids permitting, by the end of November.
