Pierre Soccer Swept by Harrisburg

Both Pierre Governor soccer teams were unable to get the win over the Harrisburg Tigers on Thursday as the girls fell 2-0 while the boys lost 2-1.

The Pierre girls were held without a shot in the first half while the Tigers were able to put up five shots. Regina Stoeser and Madeline Scott both scored for the Tigers while peppering 13 shots in total to Pierre’s three. Jenna Gehring made five sets in net for Pierre but Stella Litzen did not have to make any saves without any of the three shots on target for Pierre. The Govs fall to 6-2 on the year.

The Governor boys saw too long shots find the back of the net against them in the second half to fall 2-1. Rylan Derry scored the first goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half but a free kick from near midfield from Seth Stanga dropped in over Carson Ahartz while a shot about 30 yards out from Max Bates gave the Tigers the lead with 18 minutes to play and the Tigers were able to hold on for the win. Pierre drops to 4-3-1 on the season.

The Governors will both be in Brandon Valley on Saturday. KCCR’s next broadcast will be on Tuesday, September 21 at home against Yankton.
