Lyman Raiders Wear Down, Control Sully Buttes to a 44-6 Victory

The Sully Buttes Chargers didn’t have any answer to the playmakers of the Lyman Raiders, and lost 44-6 Friday night in Onida.

With the score 14-0 Lyman lead at the half, the Raiders consistently wore down the Chargers with a punishing rushing attack, and pinpoint passing when needed.  Raiders quarterback Teagen Gourneau found the playmakers the Raiders have, and when he didn’t he ran it himself, to the tune of 50 yards.  But the leading rusher was Colton Collins, who only had seven attempts at the half for 37 yards.   Collins found his stride in the second half, finishing with 216 yards on 26 attempts.  The Raiders had 396 total yards of offense.

The Chargers meanwhile couldn’t keep momentum offensively, finishing with 103 yards, led by Jordan Schalls’ 56 yards.  The passing game never got rolling, with Sully Buttes going 5 of 15 for 32 yards and a touchdown.

Next up for Sully Buttes, now 2-1, is a home contest Friday night against another Class 9AA opponent, the Stanley County Buffaloes, while the Raiders—now 2-0—face White RiverThursday at home.
