Pierre Woman Arrested Sunday Morning For Pointing Loaded Gun At Person In Bar

PIERRE — A Pierre woman was arrested early Sunday morning for pointing a loaded gun at the victim. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers were called to the 600 block of South Lowell Avenue around 1:45 am after authorities received a report of an altercation involving a firearm. Investigating officers determined 55 year-old Dawn Magnuson had pointed a loaded gun at a person inside a bar in a threatening manner. Walz says Magnuson had been working at the bar and consuming alcohol throughout the day. Magnuson had gotten into a verbal argument with a person at the bar and left. She returned and a second verbal exchange took place. During that argue, Magnuson produced the firearm. The victim attempted to call police but Magnuson ripped a phone off the wall then pointed the gun at the victim. The victim took the gun from Magnuson. Magnuson left the bar and proceeded to contact police, explaining her actions. Magnuson is being held at the Hughes County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence; Possession of a Loaded Firearm While Intoxicated, D-U-I and Interfering with Emergency Communications.
