Pierre Soccer Travels to Sturgis to Face Scoopers

The Pierre soccer teams have had a week in between matches as on Thursday they travel to Sturgis to take on the Scoopers in a girls and boys doubleheader.

The Governor girls come into the contest now at 3-0 having knocked off Douglas, Spearfish and the latest win against Roosevelt. Pierre has outscored its opponent 13-0 so far this year and will look to continue the shutout streak heading into the contest with Sturgis. The Scoopers won on Tuesday 4-1 over Belle Fourche as they are now 2-1 on the season.

The Governor boys are looking to continue to build on the early season offensive output sitting at 2-1 on the season. Cole Peterson has scored six times in three games and has six of the 13 goals in total for the Governors. Sturgis was unable to stop Belle Fourche on Tuesday falling 5-1 and now at 1-2 on the season. Sturgis has a 4-0 shutout win over Mitchell but has been outscored 7-1 in two losses this season. It says the stage for the potential of another strong offensive game for Pierre.

Coverage will begin at 4:40 Central time this evening with kickoff at 5:00 of the girls game. The boys game will follow. You can listen to both on KCCR and kccrradio.com and watch it on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
