Another Pierre Soccer Sweep in Sturgis

The Pierre Governor soccer teams had no problems against the Sturgis Scoopers on Thursday as the girls won 5-0 and the boys rolled to a 7-2 win.

The Pierre girls continued its shutout streak having not allowed a goal in all four games, but unlike last Thursday, goalkeeper Jenna Gehring was not tested. Sturgis put up only two shots with none on target for any saves. Pierre’s offense was slow to get moving with Elli Hughes scoring the games only goal in the first half with seven minutes remaining. In the second half though, Pierre picked up goals from Avery Davis, Ryann Barry, Ireland Templeton and a second goal from Hughes. Pierre and Aberdeen face off on Saturday as the number one and two teams in the state based on seed points.

Nathan Ehrisman, Rylan Derry and Kasey Broers also scored for Pierre who are now averaging five goals per game through the first four games.

Both Pierre teams will be in Aberdeen on Saturday as the boys will play first at 12:00 and the girls game to follow. Coverage will begin at 11:40 on KCCR, kccrradio.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
