The city has been under an alternating watering restriction for lawn watering. This full restriction asks that Fort Pierre water customers limit unnecessary water usage. Such usage includes lawn irrigation, vehicle washing and tank and pool filling. The restrictions are going in place to minimize supply issues with water in storage and to provide enough water for fire suppression. This is the sixth time since February of 2019 that Fort Pierre has had to put these types of water restriction in place. They include February of 2019, September 2020; October 2020; March 2021; June 2021 and July 2021.
