Water Restrictions To Go In Effect Wednesday Along Entire Mni Wiconi Water Line

FORT PIERRE — Less than a week after crews with the Bureau of Reclamation and Mni Wiconi Rural Water system repaired a leak on the Mni Wiconi Coreline south of Fort Pierre, more work on the system is planned and that means a return to watering restrictions all along the route of the water system. Repairs are planned quote ‘in and around Fort Pierre” although any specific leak or breach was not mentioned. The water restrictions go into effect on Wednesday August 25th and will be in place until further notice. The restrictions include all non-essential water usage including lawn watering, vehicle washing and filling pools and spray tanks. The restrictions will impact customers along the West River/Lyman Jones, Lower Brule, Rosebud and Oglala Sioux Rural Water Systems in Stanley, Haakon, Lyman, Jones, Jackson, Mellette, Pennington, Todd, Bennett and Oglala Lakota Counties. Watering restrictions have already been in place in Fort Pierre since previous breaks on the same line earlier this year.
